TWO-DAY CONFERENCE "DISABILITY 360°: THE ROAD TO SOCIALIZATION"

The Civil Non-Profit Company «Rebirth» co-organizes, under the auspices of the University of Patras, a two-day conference entitled "Disability 360^ο : The road to socialization". Within this framework, the holistic way of transition of people with disabilities from social exclusion to social integration through sports and work will be analyzed.

The purpose of this two-day conference is to lay the foundations for the creation and implementation of a protocol for the reintegration of people with disabilities into society. In Greece, the percentage of people with disabilities is approximately 20% of the population (according to ELSTAT) and of this, a very small percentage is socially active. There is therefore an urgent need to create the way and methodology so that people with disabilities become a key part of our society.

The beginning could be made from our city, where there is a large number of people with disabilities, who have not been socialized even though there are important conditions for this to be achieved. Specifically, it has two rehabilitation centers, one public and one private, a sports club exclusively for motor disabilities, four sports clubs for other disabilities and branches of disability-related organizations.

There is also the company TOBEA, which with its innovative ideas and applications (such as seatrac) sets new terms and ways of socializing people with disabilities.
